Но эти работы не могли объяснить, почему политика в области заработной платы отличалась для больших и маленьких фирм.
Стандартные источники информации обычно дают характеристики работников и организаций, но они не содержат информацию о целях работников и менеджеров. Поэтому автор использовал новый источник информации – он провел опрос менеджеров, ответственных за установление зарплат в фирмах. Прямые вопросы автора относительно целей, стоящих перед политикой фирмы в области зарплат, могут помочь установить различия в механизмах.
