Can you please advise on ability to break-down for shipping and subsequent re-assembly. Not sure I need all of it but perhaps a trillion pebbles and I can on-sell the balance (for a dollar a 'throw'). Does it run on batteries or is it self-propelling (gravity)? clax (60 ) 1:58 pm, Mon 28 Feb

Dear reader, happy for you to break down on site, but please mind the furniture. Rocky is self propelled, likes to rock and roll and is looking for a new roll! 2:12 pm, Mon 28 Feb

As the saying goes 'looks like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place' [:+} WE have had a couple of rocks in Wellington, maybe we're looking for a mate? good luck ethans (815 )  2:41 pm, Fri 4 Mar

you mean your airport terminal??? Well if it is any help, Rocky loves the look of them :-) 3:35 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Well done to Rocky Point Lodge... Fantastic support from so many people and places for our beloved Cantabrians! We will make sure we yell extra loud for you all at the Crusaders game we are hosting in Nelson tonight. Have enjoyed reading the comments and your responses. Hilarious. Look forward to hearing more about Rocky in his biography lol dayne.nat (93 )  2:42 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks guys. Norfolk island and Thelma are both awesome. And thanks to you guys for looking after Toddy and the boys...who knows maybe Nelson will be their new home 3:20 pm, Fri 4 Mar

You should try see if Wgtn City Council will buy Rocky: He's alot more poignant, prettier, and cheaper than the mirrorball versions outside Te Papa and the exterior of the Airport!!! Actually, have you checked with your insurer that they won't claim fixture ownership of him as part of the writeoff of the dwelling? apriley01 (42 )  2:48 pm, Fri 4 Mar

No - but I do have a great fear the said "insurer" is watching and I may have done something here to void my claim!! On another note, Rocky is keen to become a part of our new city so perhaps someone on here could let Bob and the team know we have a cheap and iconic sculpture that is a) not controversial, b) will not throw hissy fits, and c) will not cost $500,000 :-) Thanks to you guys in Wellington, your support is much appreciated...and remember you guys...ALWAYS BE PREPARED!! 3:25 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Is there a case for a plagiarism here? this situation has parallels with the old Kiwi movie SMASH PALACE – which was set in Horopito, next to another big rock - Mt Ruapehu. I think it's time to stop this charade – I can't get any work done! ;) schussboomer (7 )  3:01 pm, Fri 4 Mar

haha - I climbed up mt ngauruhoe with my brother in law a couple of years ago. the view of Ruapehu was awesome :-) Cheers mate..now get back to work 3:27 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Well done Phil, I see "your people" were practising paper, rock, scissors to be able to deal with the council permits. A little tip for you mate........ in this case Rock wins EVERY time. keep up the good work and good luck. merlot24 (34 )  3:13 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks for that - I shouldn't need too much luck, as i have Rocky on my side :-) 3:28 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi just wondering how many watchers do you have on your watch list? Best wishes from Rotorua niceguy25 (113 )  3:13 pm, Fri 4 Mar

5440. Plus you I hope :-) 3:29 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Rocky was pushed!!! He is a victim too! He didn't mean to do it.There he was, nestled with his family when the earth delivered a large kick up his rear face and the rest is history. Please keep bidding not for ownership but for his freedom !!!FREE ROCKY!!!!! Love, hugs and prayers to all of you affected by the earthquake. My vote goes to keeping Rocky in Christchurch he is the embodiment of solidarity :) Your Nelson friends will be there to support the Crusaders on your behalf tonight! oopsadaisies (3 )  3:14 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks you guys in Nelson. Don't tell anyone this but......we have been approached by the Crusaders...seems they are keen on trialling Rocky for a front row position (assume its the entire front row). So who knows eh! 3:30 pm, Fri 4 Mar

how much does it cost to feed him? Does he leave little messes (pebbles) around? And is he child friendly? Is he a pedigree? Do you have papers? Seriously though, It's good to have a sense of humour at what I can only say a very testing time for many. Thinking of you all. Funds are tight here but I wish I could help so if i win lotto then I promise to outbid the highest bidder by $10,000. xoxoxoxoxxoo keen32 (247 )  3:41 pm, Fri 4 Mar

1. Nothing, 2. no (u need a big litter box), 3. yes, 4. of course, 5. yes we have lots of papers...if you win lotto we have a deal :-) 3:51 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I've worked it out - Rocky is obviously very closely related to the Blarney Stone - he's given you (and a lot of us Kiwi's) the gift of the gab! Go Rocky, Go Phil! P.S., with so many people around NZ offering you beer Phil, whats your favourite brew? kelzone (4 )  3:49 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks mate. Well i am a bit of an Emersons fan, and also Three Boys brewed in my native Heathcote Valley :-) 4:04 pm, Fri 4 Mar

How do you know how much it weighs? I am wanting value-for-money and am worried that it might not be 25 tons! On the other hand it might be too much to put in the back of my pickup after we tried to load a 5 ton pallet of steel. kimo (8 )  3:59 pm, Fri 4 Mar

2m x 2m x 3.5m long - which = one big lump of love 4:23 pm, Fri 4 Mar

any chance of getting a few groups of rockys mates around and hold a rock concert for charity? teaser1 (53 )  4:09 pm, Fri 4 Mar

well we are going to write a book of all your comments - so maybe a concert should come next 4:26 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Gotta say Phil even though Rocky arrived uninvited looks like you got him behaving now.......I reckon if GOD's got a problem with you flogging off his stuff he should pop down and shift it ;). Rocky is indeed famous in the UK ...I visit a forum over there and they know all about Rocky - the members on Down The Lane asked me to send all their love and good luck with the auction....I've never been so proud -good on you Phil x x manda65 (91 )  4:11 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks manda65 - it is great to hear from you guys. You have been through some tough times as well over there so your support is much appreciated. 4:27 pm, Fri 4 Mar

It just goes to show - our NZ accent needs some clarity - I understand you phoned for a BUILDER - not a BOULDER. snork (10 )  4:15 pm, Fri 4 Mar

hahahaha - snork that is GOLD :-) 4:28 pm, Fri 4 Mar

NOT TRYING TO ROCK THE BOAT After seeing the pics and judging by its roundedness with no long protrusions, the hole it may put in your pocket since entering your home, and the baby in pram, how can you say it's a him? I suspect it's female & married, so I truly hope you have no more shakes where hubby comes down to visit! The bids have exceeded my limit on donations. I hope all those who bid will donate to Christchurch as per their highest bid? OR DID YOU JUST WANT FAME FOR BUYING IT ? theyorkes (28 )  4:20 pm, Fri 4 Mar

well we might be able to do some things to give you all some value for money. Once the big auction is over (and my fingers have had a wee break). We will whip up a book and give it away to all trade me members for a small donation. that way you can keep the memories and we will also give all of that money to the EQ Fund. 4:30 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Read about you making a book, great idea, print out know to keep for future not sure what Trademe will do but just cut and paste all the questions and answers know you may loose a few because of room megs_240891 (183 )  4:27 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Trade Me are cool - they are watching this and helping...although I do wish they could do some typing :-) Rumour has it they will match the highest bid......JUST JOKING GUYS :-) 4:31 pm, Fri 4 Mar

You must have a lopsided bird living above, -- this looks like a failed "Boob Job". Too much silicone on one side & it dropped out ? Suggest you return to Plastic Surgery Unit, where no doubt some distraught recipient is looking for it. brian613 (1 )  4:29 pm, Fri 4 Mar

jeeze brian - she is going to be distraught all right mate :-) 4:32 pm, Fri 4 Mar

So would you say the old wifes tale is true, people who live in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones - I have had an absolute ball reading all this humour - want to buy book, and wish you all the most hearfelt of best wishes - amyloublu (219 )  4:39 pm, Fri 4 Mar

you are most welcome amyloublu :-) 4:45 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi MATE ,Just trying to get things right here ,,don't want you to get into trouble ,,I know Rocky turned up unexpected so to speak ,,but to move him you may have to get permission from DOC and you know how they are at handing out rights to move precious stones .///// Hey cheers and good luck for the future ... wyn1 (289 )  4:41 pm, Fri 4 Mar

have thought about that...but according to international law Rocky has a say in this as well!! 4:46 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi Phil, Just listened to you on the radio .... you ROCK!!! Good luck with your trade. Linda linda34b (115 )  4:42 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks linda - I was not so nervous this time :-) 4:46 pm, Fri 4 Mar

What a great way to turn a bad situation into good. sorry about your home. best of luck with the auction _gr33dy_ (239 )  4:46 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks...as they say on Trade Me...shist happens :-) 4:47 pm, Fri 4 Mar

YEP ANOTHER GREAT IDEA OF YOURS PHIL - Whip up that book and if all the Watchers donate $10 for it then you probably receive 10 times the sale price on top! And since TRADEME can't assist you with the typing, yes wouldn't they be popular amongst the media if they will match at least the price of Rocky your new lady of the house! How many Watchers there now? theyorkes (28 )  4:50 pm, Fri 4 Mar

5,555!! Whew! Hey and whats this "lady" business? 5:10 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Publish this lot, be better than the Tui book. Kia Kaha. Take care. petcaren (180 )  4:57 pm, Fri 4 Mar

For sure :-) 5:13 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Must tell you; I have spent a looong time today reading and giggling at your clever answers and am now deep in the Rocky gravel with the Head Rock in my life. BTW I think your Rocky was once the pet pebble for a dear little baby Triceratops since you reckon he grew up in a vegetarian household. Keep on keeping on and I hope you get squillions of dollars for him. cholmondly (8 )  5:01 pm, Fri 4 Mar

maybe you are right, never thought he might have grown up as a toy for a dinosaur :-) 5:14 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi Phil as you're trying to rock "Rocky" out of your home, we are trying to rock a mobile radio studio from Invercargill to Eastern suburbs of Christchurch to help community in need. Can you spare a little assistance to the Radio Heritage Foundation on to Paypal, when "Rocky" has found a new home... :) Hope you can help :) The reason the "Rock" hasn't approach you is because they operate out of Auckland and therefore haven't picked up real Christchurch needs. All the best! artycat (8 )  5:16 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Sure - thanks guys...I will pass the message on to everyone here. someone may be able to help 6:59 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Forget the book when is the movie coming out? I'd love to bid on it but alas tis out of my price range. All the best. Deb warapo (0 )  5:16 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks Deb - u r a gem 6:59 pm, Fri 4 Mar

OK perhaps Rocky's no lady, the way she barged into your man's room like that, so let's just say she's a woman cos no bloke would be that hard to manage! theyorkes (28 )  5:17 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I will leave this to the panel to discuss :-) 7:00 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Rockie is definetly a big female and you obviously have had tonnes of fun with her but be warned if she hangs around for two years she will get half the house. Then she will want the half that isn't munted harveyr (135 )  5:24 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Again - might leave this one for the panel lads 7:01 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi, is the 'baby rock' also for sale and is it a 'he' too? Goodonya friend, and good luck. workid (142 )  5:36 pm, Fri 4 Mar

the baby was one of Rocky's baby photos 7:05 pm, Fri 4 Mar

yes definetly a female rock and obviously suffering from PMT........... (Pre Meditated Tremors) as opposed to the usual Pre Meditated Tantrums. She will also have a permanent headache guaranteed! harveyr (135 )  5:38 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Harvey - this is dangerous territory mate 7:05 pm, Fri 4 Mar

We definitely have a new NZ icon here to join the buzzy bee, pavlova, kiwifruit, jandals, Goodbye Pork Pie, Peter Jackson, Split Enz, Crowded House...and ROCKY the ROCK! That's something to be proud of Phil. All the best with the auction and with rebuilding your lives. From the Waikato xx shazza68 (205 )  5:41 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks shazza - much work to be done, but we intend to bounce back for sure 7:06 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Will I need to do a police check on Rocky? It's just I have three young boulders up here in Kerikeri, and I would hate for Rocky to be a Pebblophile. Well done guys. Love and thoughts are with you. georgie11 (93 )  5:42 pm, Fri 4 Mar

nah - he as an honest, straight young rock - albeit a tad boisterous 7:07 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks Remy - enjoy :-) 7:22 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I think Rocky should be carved into a statue and placed in the Square as a symbol for remembrance for future Christchurch generations...... Keep the faith.....youre an inspiration to us all. velana (32 )  6:14 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thank you - and a VERY good idea :-) 7:24 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hey Phil I believe Rocky took you literally when you mentioned Tuesday drinks were 'on the house,' of course when he foolishly headed for the roof it couldn't take his weight. I hope you'll forgive him for his naivity? kate722 (12 )  6:25 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I just wish he could have staggered a bit to the left :-)...or was that jumped to the right! 7:25 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Bring on the book!!! I absolutely agree with every comment made so far. Phil save the fingers just hit K. fidget6 (4 )  6:43 pm, Fri 4 Mar

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK :-) 7:25 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Are you legally entitled to auction this rock?....Although I do believe "possesion" like drugs is nine tenths of the law. velana (32 )  6:45 pm, Fri 4 Mar

don't worry - I'm going to use the spare 10th :-) 7:26 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Your lucky that rocky stopped where he did he could have done some serious damage otherwise All the best in pulling through this and make the most of the doc equipment we have supplied to assist DOC Rotorua dean610 (4 )  6:50 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks guys - you are awesome. 7:26 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Geez Phil, your wife will be gutted you didn't think to clean the house before you went international with these photos. I have twin 2 year old boys and they have done a similar demo job on our house just this morning! We are in Western Australia, and the WA answer to this 'situation' would be to mine it, grind it and send it to China. Fantastic auction - it makes me cry! NZ is still the best place in the world. stephanddamo (0 )  6:53 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Awww thanks guys. At the time I would have agreed - but now I just couldn't grind him up - let alone send him to China!! 7:27 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Phil- My thoughts are with you, your family, and all of Christchurch. Well done with a great auction and thrilled to see such generous donations. Sorry to add to the questions, but I thought I'd pass on the idea: could we get Rocky inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? It happens to be located in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, USA, so if you and your family are interested, we could offer free accommodation nearby! http://rockhall.com/ Best wishes. quilcj (8 )  6:56 pm, Fri 4 Mar

WOW - so cool. Rocky is so excited he his jumping up and down....Rocky, stop it, STOP IT, STOPPPPP ITTTTTT :-) 7:29 pm, Fri 4 Mar
