Can you please advise on ability to break-down for shipping and subsequent re-assembly. Not sure I need all of it but perhaps a trillion pebbles and I can on-sell the balance (for a dollar a 'throw'). Does it run on batteries or is it self-propelling (gravity)? clax (60 ) 1:58 pm, Mon 28 Feb

Dear reader, happy for you to break down on site, but please mind the furniture. Rocky is self propelled, likes to rock and roll and is looking for a new roll! 2:12 pm, Mon 28 Feb

so do I 11:59 am, Fri 4 Mar

Rocky seems a little tense, a bit shakey you might say, I am a massage therapist and do Hot Rock Massage so if he needs some deep tissue work I could pop down to Chch to keep him calm for transportation to his new home. does he have any allergies or medical conditions I need to be aware of? Your house appears to have undergone a bit of trauma too so I will donate to the Chch Quake appeal as I have not been trained in fibre board injuries. Love to you all xxx honeysmum (38 )  9:33 am, Fri 4 Mar

well i could sure do with that offer :-) 11:59 am, Fri 4 Mar

Wow, you and Rocky are going global! I have no room for him in my house, but seeing how he's famous I wouldn't mind getting an autographed photo- how much for one of those? 60 million years old, surely he's picked up a good pose or 2. Good luck mate! missquito (33 )  9:34 am, Fri 4 Mar

cool eh! :-) 12:00 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Wow! Phil what have you started what a rock(ing) good auction. Great to see all the good humour coming out and I hope it is giving you and your family a great lift in these times. We would like to offer you and family our rental unit for free for the first week in April if you wish for a break away from there. If you wish to look at it on Bookabach our id number is #9515 and we are in Whangamata under Coastal Comforts on Bookabach. best of luck for the future times Monty and Liz thefullmonty (94 )  9:51 am, Fri 4 Mar

Can't quite afford or accomodate Rocky but we'd love to make a donation in his name ....where would you like us to do this? Stellar auction!! sjb_red (1 )  9:57 am, Fri 4 Mar

Hi, Has this rock got a pedigree? if so please post a photo? dionzcool (29 )  10:13 am, Fri 4 Mar

yep - british and royal...Stonehenge and Rock of Gibralter. Some say....he is directly related the the stone of scone!!!! 12:05 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Rocky - where have you been all my life. You tick all the boxes for what I need in a stable relationship. Obviously a real hunk, no baggage, come from a loving family, and the bids show you are able to support yourself financially. You are a little rough around the edges but I reckon I can change that with time and effort, and we can work together on getting that little extra weight off! tracey1966 (47 )  10:23 am, Fri 4 Mar

A real hunk with a big bum that left a big hole in our roof :-) 12:05 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Mate, I need to change my mind. There's no way that rock can be female. I've carefully reviewed all the facts and clearly I was wrong. This change of heart is all my own idea and is entirely unrelated to the present Mrs. bobs_bits withholding certain marital favours. Any chance you could reply before the weekend? bobs_bits (56 )  10:23 am, Fri 4 Mar

Bob - u can't change your mind mate - you are not female!!! As for Mrs Bob...come on girl, cut the guy some slack...if you do I will send you a signed photo of Rocky!!! (let me know how it went on Monday Bob) 12:07 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I am a Hawkes Bay Rockhound and feel that I must put in an enquiry for Rockies services on behalf of the Canturbury Rock and Mineral Club. They have had 2 bad experiences with the deconstruction firm 'Forces of Nature', which has resulted in the servere damage to their clubrooms. Rocky and his crew of 'Hillside Renovators' could do no worse. If you wish to keep Rocky for yourselves "rockhounds' with our geology hammers could help you 'chip' away at the problem. c.j.u (57 )  10:26 am, Fri 4 Mar

there would be a whole lot a chippin goin on :-) 12:08 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Woolzers, so much intrest is amazing. and wol at the rock in your house. good luck getting a crain to lift that out. crazy as 0p3n (10 )  10:28 am, Fri 4 Mar

fanks 12:08 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Obviously, (paraphrasing Benjamin Franklin, no less) your neighbours do NOT have windows made of glass... "Don't throw stones at your neighbors , if your own windows are glass". emedarter (18 )  10:48 am, Fri 4 Mar

my neighbours have all been kicked out because of this guy and his mates :-) 12:09 pm, Fri 4 Mar

buy now is 15,000,000,000 - the cost to rebuild our beautiful city :-(..thanks heaps for your support 12:10 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi Phil - well done! You and Rocky are awesome. Seems to me like he's nothing but a rock lodger. (In very hot water maybe???) Or is that just boulderdash. All the best down there! oceanfun (41 )  11:09 am, Fri 4 Mar

thanks mate 12:10 pm, Fri 4 Mar

As I cant afford the $7,000 that the auction is currently sitting at, I'm hanging out for a $20 Rocky-T. C'MON PEEPS - SURELY SOMEONE HAS CONNECTIONS TO GET THIS UNDERWAY! (Sorry for yelling, but I really want one, lol) lekker22 (160 )  11:15 am, Fri 4 Mar

working on it - if u lot stop asking questions that is :-) 12:10 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Sure you cannot make a Menhir out of him? Like Obelisk, he seems to be just such a chip off the old block. (or was thet Obelix?) rfdehaan (4 )  11:23 am, Fri 4 Mar

Obelix me thinks?? 12:11 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Not a question. No answer required. A message to big business - Can you imagine the publicity the winning bidder will receive? The advertising value would be priceless, so come on the big boys, bid up large! brakeman (262 )  11:23 am, Fri 4 Mar

LISTEN TO THIS MAN!!! 12:11 pm, Fri 4 Mar

What's up with all the questions about Rocky being female? My god, a bloke gets caught wearing pink insulation just once... glen897 (50 )  11:32 am, Fri 4 Mar

I know, I know....and just the one goat.......:-) 12:11 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Is seems that Rocky has a lot of personality, have you considered giving him his own facebook page? michelleksw (11 )  11:33 am, Fri 4 Mar

he has one http://www.facebook.com/pages/

Rocky/133667530034728 12:12 pm, Fri 4 Mar

never felt so helpless. God bless you all and keep you safe. Leonie xxxxx pearl427 (18 )  11:35 am, Fri 4 Mar

Is Rocky's price inclusive of GST. Is he toilet trained and is he ok around small children, cats, other dogs. Does he understand any basic commands? Also do you have good access for a Hiab to lift him. dstk (306 )  11:57 am, Fri 4 Mar

yes, yes (BIG litter box), yes (we have 2), yes, yes , no :-) 12:14 pm, Fri 4 Mar

America's ready for Rocky - Monument Valley; or the Canadian Rockies! Please do publish a book. Perhaps all of us who've commented could kick in a dollar or two to help. I'm sure we can find a desktop designer/ad agency who'd take this on a pro bono (or shd that be pro rocko?). Next stop - a home exercise video....must stop...must work....must stopppppp scribe12 (13 )  12:00 pm, Fri 4 Mar

ANYONE CARE TO HELP??? It's a cracker idea!!! 12:15 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I heard your interview on Radio NZ yesterday and felt proud of you and your Kiwi sense of humour. If I was able to I would run off with you and your rock....Good Luck and all of NZ is behind you and yours. springs4 (23 )  12:03 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Totally awesome sense of humour!!! Keep your chin up. XXX aiki33 (747 )  12:04 pm, Fri 4 Mar

they are up....al 3 of them :-) 12:15 pm, Fri 4 Mar

If he's still just lying around ( the lazy schist) in the winter are you contemplating taking him down south for a spot of Curling. I understand they use Rocks in this game and I am sure someone nearer to you will knit him a beanie. Great auction. Loads of laughs and please if a book is produced don't just advertise it on facebook as not all of us have facebook. Best of Luck to everyone down your way. breness (230 )  12:06 pm, Fri 4 Mar

he would surely make her crook 12:44 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Phil. TradeMe won't let me put in contact details. Have emailed them in the hope they'll pass my email on to you so we can work offline. If they say they can't.....we'll apply a little pressure and make them wince. Anyone else interested in helping Phil and Rocky get published? scribe12 (13 )  12:24 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks guys...my email is phil at commarc dot co dot nz 12:44 pm, Fri 4 Mar

If we were to buy Rocky, could you just let him roll down to Invercargill? It is "down" on every map I've seen, and he's had practice at finding "home". Would definitely buy a certificate with a metatarsal off the old metaconglomerate. Good luck and stay strong! I know Rocky will. silver53 (22 )  12:28 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi my name is Pebbles from Bedrock. I am looking for my grandfather and wondered if it was Rocky. You see my parents Fred and Wilma told me grandfather Rocky rocked around the clock and created a few Pebbles way back when and just rolled off into the Sunset. thecarbroka (15 )  12:39 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Sorry to disappoint you Pebbles but Rocky is a single man....no kids :-( 12:46 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Are you sure you have this listing right? There's reports of a huge whale further up the coast with hiccups (actually, anchored off Petone I hear).... I've taken a close look at those pics and think Rocky may be Ambergris! Right colour, right size, would've been a hell of a whale burp. Did you happen to lick him before locking him up? Revealing he is Ambergris should get the auction to $20bil!! I'm stoked your 5mins of fame has come now Phil, such a good thing you're doing. Kia Kaha Chch riverbound (16 )  12:50 pm, Fri 4 Mar

OMG...you want me to lick Rocky!!! Tell u what though riverbound, this 5 mins of unwanted fame has given me very sore fingers :-) 1:44 pm, Fri 4 Mar

My daughter has a pet rock but he is little and needs a frind, but not sure if your one is house trained. All the best to you, Stay safe. dizzle12 (24 )  12:52 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I was grounded for a week once when I was a kid, for throwing a rock through the window of my dads workshop... and I had to pay for the window... Hope you catch the bl##dy culprit!!! =) Regards and kind wishes from Wellington! PS Billy Idol says "Rock on!!" philmworks (140 )  1:04 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thank wonderful Wellywood...and if I did catch the guy that threw Rocky....!!!! 2:54 pm, Fri 4 Mar

When all this is over and Rocky has been re-housed, have a quiet sit down with that beer and play Hendrix's Stone Free. Cheers! fleurt (468 )  1:09 pm, Fri 4 Mar

sure Fleur...can u link that on Rocky's FB page at all? 2:55 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Apologies for crashing your auction, but some Aucklanders might like to bid on this one ( none tree hill raiser for CHCH), or perhaps you might like it as a bit of extra stability for your cliff. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Brows

e/Listing.aspx?id=358136970 sit1 (1228 )  1:16 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Sure looks like a worthy cause to me 2:56 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi Phil, Looks like an old mate of mine. We grew up in a Lyttel-town just over the hill from you. As young magmas we were hot heads and always lava-ing. He was much boulder than me and hardened up and rose to the summit. The pressure finally made him unstable. One day on the 6.3 news he was rocked so much he lost his grip. Last I heard he was locked up for house breaking. The notoriety crushed him and he ended up with shingles. Tell him Clay says gid-day. You're doing a granite job. laguna1 (19 )  1:30 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Wicked...well done laguna 2:57 pm, Fri 4 Mar

He sure has rocked your world. In the dictionary a rock is a large stone or boulder (no false advertising there!). You have all swayed strongly from side to side (rocked). A person is a rock when they provide foundation and support. The rest of NZ is trying to be there for you all. Have loved reading all the kiwi humour. Especially yours, Phil. Crazy the amount of questions you have replied too. Look after yourselves down there (and those fingers!) ROCK ON and stay safe. Carol xx timmsy (27 )  1:38 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thank you from the bottom of my aching digits Carol xx 2:57 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Rocky obviously has plenty of eager owners waiting in the wings... Fantastic to see such support for those in Chch. However, I suspect many would also be interested to know, "How much for the Blonde?" She looks lovely. Is she yours or on loan? Unlike Rocky, I have no doubt she'd be capable of taking the whole house in one foul swoop. But many lads would be willing to take that gamble! Maybe you could arrange a separate auction! :) scott2ride (66 )  1:39 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Ahhhhh...the blonde is a friend of ours and I suspect she is watching this as we speak. So....over to you T :-) 2:58 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Haven't laughed so much in a while. Phil you really should turn all this into a book and continue to raise money with that. Thoughts and prayers with everyone affected by the quake:) lolli2 (417 )  1:41 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thanks Lolli - that is indeed the plan. First I need to see this auction out and then we will build a book 3:07 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Hi Phil,Monty again You're most welcome, pity we couldn't offer a closer time but we are booked out for the "Beachhop" festival we have here every year a big ROCK and ROLL 4 day event I'm sure Rocky would have loved to ROLL along to it with you all as he seems to made himself at home with you down there. Once again our best wishes to everyone down there and our hearts go out to all those in need.(Just wish we could help everyone.) Monty and Liz thefullmonty (94 )  1:52 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Don't worry guys - you are helping :-) 3:09 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Pic 2 looks like my golf on a good day! Have replaced the divot? peopleenergy (36 )  1:53 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I'm not sure whats worse - your divot or my slice!! :-) 3:10 pm, Fri 4 Mar

If a speck of grit in an Oyster makes a pearl 8mm across, imagine the pendant this puppy would make? Now all we need is an Oyster 25 metres across to stick rocky in ... hello bluff, have we got an order for you! bullfrog64 (141 )  1:55 pm, Fri 4 Mar

question is...how would you swallow an oyster that big?? 3:11 pm, Fri 4 Mar

You big rockstar Rocky, you are bigger than Shrek the sheep and have taken over as New Zealands newest icon. Roll out the red carpet as I am sure you will win an oscar for this performance. I hope whoever wins you will allow us all to come and kiss the blarny stone you are one good looking rock. I hope everyone will realise this is our newest tourist attraction, bid big people. debbowden (new )  1:59 pm, Fri 4 Mar

thanks deb....we are going to need something for tourists to see :-(. Great support thanks mate :-) 3:12 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I know the big guy will be totally crushed when he learns of his fate, but we will buy a piece of him if you would mail it to us in Tasmania. starzon45 (2 )  2:03 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I would love to guys....but if you wait a few million years I think we are coming your way anyway :-) 3:13 pm, Fri 4 Mar

LAUGHING REALLY OUT LOUD, BRILL QUESTIONS AND GREAT ANSWERS...DON'T NEED TO RESPOND, JUST WANT TO SAY GOOD ON YOU FOR THIS...THE POWER OF PEOPLE AND ESPECIALLY KIWIS IN TIME OF NEED, CAN'T BEAT. HELL I LIVE IN WELLINGTON ADN TODAY AM WEARING RED AND BLACK IN HONOUR OF ALL CANTABS...TAKE CARE.... traceysteel (181 )  2:15 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Thankx Tracey...you are a weapon. Keep wearing the red and black girl, you might get to like it :-) And GO THE CANES!!!!! :-) 3:15 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Great auction, hope it goes well for you. How about putting some of that liquifaction silt on here too, sell if off in small boxes, or by the ton for making sculptures, should sell like hot cakes. rosicrucian (239 )  2:17 pm, Fri 4 Mar

we didn't get any of that but I am sure that many of my fellow citizens will be able to help on that front. 3:16 pm, Fri 4 Mar

My wife tells me that if I buy this rock, and if it doesn't match the existing furniture, the whole world will explode in a great ball of fire. Can you please guarantee that this rock would not explode in a great ball of fire if I purchase it. grapebubblegum (44 )  2:28 pm, Fri 4 Mar

You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain Too much love drives a man insane You broke my will But what a thrill Goodness gracious great balls of fire! 3:17 pm, Fri 4 Mar

do you think " THE ROCK" will be really mad that "ROCKY" has upstaged him? He looks like he would be quite good at wrestling. He could sure bowl someone over.xxxxx elizabelizzybee (1 )  2:28 pm, Fri 4 Mar

yep - I reckon Rocky would nail him big time 3:18 pm, Fri 4 Mar

I remember seeing Rocky's Dad in Raiders of the Lost Ark when he chased Harrison Ford. Like father like son! Good luck with the auction :-) Trev headhoon (99 )  2:36 pm, Fri 4 Mar

Sorry Trev, that wasn't his dad - it was his Uncle Rolly :-) 3:18 pm, Fri 4 Mar
