Can you please advise on ability to break-down for shipping and subsequent re-assembly. Not sure I need all of it but perhaps a trillion pebbles and I can on-sell the balance (for a dollar a 'throw'). Does it run on batteries or is it self-propelling (gravity)? clax (60 ) 1:58 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Dear reader, happy for you to break down on site, but please mind the furniture. Rocky is self propelled, likes to rock and roll and is looking for a new roll! 2:12 pm, Mon 28 Feb
cheers and thanks for your support 9:50 am, Thu 3 Mar
hi there great action... Do you and the family need to get away? have room in Hawkes Bay to put you up. Good luck with the auctio. debz711 (217 ) 11:04 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks debs, you are so kind. that is a beautiful part of the country you live it too :-) 9:51 am, Thu 3 Mar
Dear Phil, Im sure if you look on the dulux paint chart you'll see a colour that should blend in quite well for the wall surrounding rocky, given he dominates the room I think having him as a feature makes the garage look alot smaller, perhaps then you could put a painting on the opposite wall to draw the eye away. The most positive thing with your new addition is that it's locally made and of natural products. So it should breathe well, be warm in the winter, cool in the summer and durable! xo thewoodz (108 ) 11:12 pm, Wed 2 Mar
finally....a professional opinion!! :-) 9:51 am, Thu 3 Mar
Hey Rocky you're so fine; you're so fine you blow my mind (or rather this auction does - you are amazing!) pip202 (67 ) 11:21 pm, Wed 2 Mar
fanks pip :-) 9:52 am, Thu 3 Mar
Would this rock be suitable for a prop on stage one of my fabulous Drag Queen shows, and if so, how so? hingisfan (50 ) 11:26 pm, Wed 2 Mar
how so? easy so? come pick him up. I must warn you that I don't think he will make a very good drag rock! 9:53 am, Thu 3 Mar
Its just a bump to the left And a stumble to the ri-i-ight Put your hands on your on your head And your elbows in ti-i-ght Thats the Earthquake thrust Driving us insa-a-a-ane Rocky's horror hokohoko (213 ) 11:27 pm, Wed 2 Mar

Read the whole lot (2 hrs) b4 writing, in case I could save your witty fingers...51 unanswered questions for tomorrow, plus mine! Agreed, better than your day-job! Now I know someone did ask but to add my few grains of silt : Marital Status: Shingle, in a relationslip, de-liquifacto, happily quarried, or deforced? After the fame as a rock star, do you think he'll be stoney broke or rolling in it? Can't afford 2 bid but might help some1 else choose to invest! Good karma + aroha from Raglan ericandlizzy (26 ) 12:27 am, Thu 3 Mar
WOW!! well done. I now have very short, blunt little digits as a result. Thanks Raglan...love your town :-) 9:55 am, Thu 3 Mar

thanks guys...we are smiling like hell down here...keeping the cheek bones high stops the tears. Thank you so much for your support. 9:56 am, Thu 3 Mar
I think you should settle on the price of 1151. 914615 (6 ) 2:00 am, Thu 3 Mar
I agree...but we really need about $20 billion! 9:57 am, Thu 3 Mar
Would Rocky make a good Pet rock fishnchips1 (98 ) 3:09 am, Thu 3 Mar
hell YES!!! 10:08 am, Thu 3 Mar
Look, I'm in the market for such a rock, but I'm concerned about how house-trained your one is. Clearly it's been digging holes in your back yard. Has it had recent obediance training, or does it just have a mind of its own? georges21 (55 ) 6:00 am, Thu 3 Mar
very house trained....but requires a BIG litter box 10:12 am, Thu 3 Mar
Rock a bye baby on the cliff top, When the land quakes the cradle will rock, When the land breaks the cradle will fall, And down will come baby, cradle and all. Ok – so Rocky is not a baby anymore but the sentiment remains! Thanks for bringing a smile and a giggle to us all! cupatea (226 ) 6:59 am, Thu 3 Mar
don't you mean "the sediment remains" :-) 10:13 am, Thu 3 Mar

yeah I heard about that your shake. please you wonderful Wellywood people make sure you HAVE A PLAN...water, food, transport etc. And remember its not the magnitude, its the depth that does the damage 10:17 am, Thu 3 Mar
Hey, I heard you on the edge, I live in Dunedin and can take an 11 year old dog temporarily of permentantly if need be. Just let me know. spyro19 (60 ) 7:49 am, Thu 3 Mar
WOW - thanks you so much. I really appreciate the offer but she is an 11 year old black Lab that is very precious so we would like to keep her close. 10:21 am, Thu 3 Mar

yes GO ROCKY, bloody well GO!! :-) 10:21 am, Thu 3 Mar
It's people like you with your good humour and positivity that will make this city a better one! I live in Rangiora and am so proud of the way the people of Christchurch and surrounding districts have pulled together! Thanks for putting a smile on the faces of many :-) sophie144 (57 ) 8:36 am, Thu 3 Mar
you are most welcome sophie, tell you what...you keep smiling and I will keep typing (albeit with considerably shorter fingers) :-) 10:23 am, Thu 3 Mar
So your house was rocked during the quake and now I guess in picture 3 you feel like your between a rock and a hard place? dex (1 ) 8:54 am, Thu 3 Mar
you could say that my whole world was rocked as well :-) 10:23 am, Thu 3 Mar
Hi Phil, My daughter heard you speak on The Edge. Heard you are needing to relocate as Rocky made such a mess and the house could also be on the move. We have an old very friendly tolerant labrador who would be happy to have a flatmate. We don't bite either and have room for a few people as well, even Rocky. We live on a farm near Rolleston. We have fences to keep in pets and it is very flat so Rocky wouldn't roll too far. If you are interested we can exchange contacts. Cheers Carolyn. carolsmo (41 ) 9:05 am, Thu 3 Mar
WOW thanks Carolyn. We are looking at a rental in Cass Bay but they won't take a dog (fair enough I guess). Our dog Abby is an 11 year old black lab who is scared of butterflies :-). Will let you know if we can't re home her - thanks heaps :-) 10:25 am, Thu 3 Mar
How many "stone" does he weigh? alphonse1 (240 ) 9:12 am, Thu 3 Mar
3,936.8!!!! :-) 10:26 am, Thu 3 Mar
Could this by any chance be Rock Hudson? Just wanted to check before I took him home with me, as well, you know, he was a bit that way... prontos (104 ) 9:18 am, Thu 3 Mar
no, but Elvis has bee spotted hanging around the back of the house wanting his blue suede shoes back 10:28 am, Thu 3 Mar
Have made a bid for "rocky", however, now wonder if it will fit in with our current decor. What colour outfits are included? crouth (105 ) 9:19 am, Thu 3 Mar
slate, grey, dark grey, light grey and a slightly rustic moss :-) 10:28 am, Thu 3 Mar
Hi Phil, in response to your answer - we are all good! It's guys like you that make us so proud - always thinking of others! Hope you get to kick (or roll) that inconsiderate house guest out soon! emmaj26 (304 ) 9:27 am, Thu 3 Mar
glad to hear you are ok emma, take care and who knows what will happen to him. I reckon a spot in town with a plaque maybe. He would be a very cheap sculpture, would last for ever and would remind us of tougher times when we are old and grey :-) 10:30 am, Thu 3 Mar
Nice work! Why don't you keep Rocky and start your own stonehenge! He's already an icon ;-) Good on you buddy, awesome to see you're looking on the bright side. All of Auckland behind you, and I even bought some read clothes for the 2 min silence on Tuesday, stay strong!! nizchic (49 ) 9:47 am, Thu 3 Mar
We LOVE you guys up there...you have been so supportive. Have some plans to ask the council to put Rocky somewhere when we build our new city!! 10:32 am, Thu 3 Mar
Wow Phil Johnson do you feel a book coming on? .. Just a little usless information but pets usually choose their owners (mainly cats but hey rocks now too)so should you be resisting Rocky's choice in singling you out specially .. You could always include Rocky in your re-build :-) Y yvonnne (49 ) 9:47 am, Thu 3 Mar
Be a very short book :-). See my previous re an idea or two for R's future. Thanks for your support :-) 10:33 am, Thu 3 Mar
Fred Flintstone called.......his front wheels missing!! salty69 (145 ) 9:55 am, Thu 3 Mar
OMG he DOES exist!!!!!! 10:33 am, Thu 3 Mar
I think I saw him on the news plugging a visit to Christchurch by Metallica- is he into heavy metal? kenzie21 (18 ) 10:03 am, Thu 3 Mar
nope - he is a big rolling stones fan though. do you reckon Mick and Keith would come and play? Is they stop bitching at each other that is :-) 10:34 am, Thu 3 Mar
Wish I could afford this auction. Fantastic job and briliant sense of humour. Hope it raises a fortune to help you all out. michellg (324 ) 10:09 am, Thu 3 Mar
thanks M :-). You don't have to afford - just participate and enjoy. I intend to get one of them big corporates to pony up some serious dosh if I can 10:35 am, Thu 3 Mar
Hey - someone touched on it already. He is clearly a trespasser. Give him warnings to leave and if he doesn't, call the cops. They will take him away for ya... 1gecko (328 ) 10:16 am, Thu 3 Mar
tried that - he "stonewalled" the cops! 10:36 am, Thu 3 Mar
do you think my husband could get his brain back sometime soon... aliciab (39 ) 10:21 am, Thu 3 Mar
hahahaha :-) Assume your husband does not surf trade me auctions? Good one - keep em coming. 10:37 am, Thu 3 Mar
Although adoption by the Prime Minister was one of the boulder suggestions, it's the obvious answer in view of the mountain level of homeless rocks! geebee245 (54 ) 10:23 am, Thu 3 Mar
NICE. Adopt a rock, preferably mine!! 10:38 am, Thu 3 Mar
Bought the lotto ticket, when I win want 1st option on "Big Rock Candy Mountain" at the back & the house. Rocky & I will open a B&B "Smash Palace" at bedrock prices for other lost stoned drop-ins. alphonse1 (240 ) 10:25 am, Thu 3 Mar
just remember that R is on the wagon now - so please don't tempt him off 10:39 am, Thu 3 Mar
The confusion over whether Rocky's male or female could be cos he landed on his bits and is now a 'eunock' rock! An autobiography next maybe! Great site. Heartfelt wishes to all. eve99 (16 ) 10:27 am, Thu 3 Mar
thanks Eve :-) 10:39 am, Thu 3 Mar
The things Lady Gaga does to make an entrance. firstbubs (121 ) 10:39 am, Thu 3 Mar
yeah - and its a real Bad Romance I tell you! 10:40 am, Thu 3 Mar
I really think you will find him a little hard to move on trade me . Im sure any psychologist will tell you he has a serious personality disorder , totally devoid of any empathy for others . Where ever he goes his main mission is to wreck havoc and hurt people . Im glad you stopped him in his tracks ! (and didnt get hurt in the process!!!) Good luck with the auction , blessings! karen9001 (57 ) 11:03 am, Thu 3 Mar
my 5 year old son loves Star Wars and he reckons I should have used the "force" to stop him :-) 11:08 am, Thu 3 Mar
Does rocky have his own facebook page, I think you should make one for him. Imagine how popular he will be then. bronnie17 (46 ) 11:24 am, Thu 3 Mar
He sure does.... http://www.facebook.com/pages/

Do you have a Buy now? And can I pick up? PS. I'm sure he'll fit in the back of the Holden...with seats folded down of course. tgavaas (5 ) 11:33 am, Thu 3 Mar
Buy now....I'll take $5,000,000,000 for him :-) 11:43 am, Thu 3 Mar
I hope all the proceeds will go to the red cross? Otherwise I fail to see the funny side of this idiocy. mankini (0 ) 11:33 am, Thu 3 Mar
100% will go to the official EQ relief fund. This has been stated and this is what WILL happen. And I must admit that I and possibly 140,000 others fail to understand why we are all idiots!! But then again...there is always one eh :-). Anyway, I trust you are well and not personally affected by the EQ. 11:41 am, Thu 3 Mar
I hope all you people bidding high amounts for this are planning to donate those bids to the relief fund should you lose! bugpowderdust (36 ) 11:34 am, Thu 3 Mar
me too :-) 11:42 am, Thu 3 Mar
I hope you are with AMI "they insure NZness!!!" also maybe Rocky should be assessed by the Mental health services showing strong narcisitic personality with poor regard for others property and safety, history of being stoned, may have caused personality cracks, danger to self and others, bound to be sectionable and therefore taken away by the me in white coats!! jackiek (68 ) 11:36 am, Thu 3 Mar
Not AMI...but another fabulous, fantastic insurer who will help me rebuild :-) 2:36 pm, Thu 3 Mar
This rock looks very familiar to me,
are you sure he didn't have a bit part on the movie Armageddon alongside
Bruce Willis. Come to think of it, have you checked to see if Bruce
is not camped out around Rocky somewhere? reade3 (158 ) 11:40
am, Thu 3 Mar
well so far I have seen Elvis, Rock Hudson and some dictator from Libya that wants his rock back! 2:36 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Hi We are so sorry to see the mess that Rocky has made. Hopefully he will be better behaved in his new home. We think it is great what you are doing. This is the first time since the 22nd we have laughed out loud. Thank you. Stay safe! malonefamily (92 ) 11:42 am, Thu 3 Mar

Hi Phil, Can you tell me if Rocky is fully grown? The space I have in mind is perfect but would not want him to grow any larger - into perhaps a volcanoe......Good luck with the auction and take care down there. Free beers in Auckland when you make it up here. mkw1 (278 ) 12:00 pm, Thu 3 Mar
he sure is...thanks you Auckland wonder people :-) 2:39 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Could inspire a new hit song "I cant get no 'liquifaction'... by The Rolling Stones...might be a humungus hit, bigger than Rocky :) cameo23 (415 ) 12:11 pm, Thu 3 Mar
can anything be bigger than Rocky? Maybe Texas eh! 2:40 pm, Thu 3 Mar
I have laughed with you and I have cried. The most emotional thing I have ever read. What you are doing is inspired and inspiring. God bless you and all down there. Our hearts are with you. brakeman (262 ) 12:13 pm, Thu 3 Mar
thanks brakeman, I appreciate your support and so does everyone down here. 2:40 pm, Thu 3 Mar

thanks bud :-) 2:42 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Hi, You are certainly inventive down there. We are ALL thinking of you all and wish we could do something to ease the situation. Hope also that Rocky finds a good home. BUT if EVERYONE who has viewed this page as of now and laughed at the humour donated $10 to the fund that would make a humungous $1,512,040. . . . . . easy as. GOOD LUCK jillyos (5 ) 12:18 pm, Thu 3 Mar
we are thinking of personal autographs for $10...you reckon people would do that? Tee shirts too hard I think. 2:43 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Hi Phil. Scripture tells us, "let s/he who is without sin cast the cast stone". Whomever cast this stone in your general direction must 1) be sure of their own saintly demeanor as well as a presumed lack of it on your part and 2) be of significantly Chas Atlas proportions to be able to do so. Yours must clearly be a case of mistaken identity undeserving of your generosity and ability to give us all a big laugh. God bless you and your family. Thanks. walone (73 ) 12:20 pm, Thu 3 Mar
well he did pick the right area of the house, and we were not home so maybe there was some divine intervention in that eh? 2:43 pm, Thu 3 Mar
This is awesome! I've got great respect for you guys. Keep up the spirit! Warm regards from Nelson :) estbau (137 ) 12:23 pm, Thu 3 Mar
thanks you fabulous Nelsonians :-) 2:44 pm, Thu 3 Mar
How much to roll rocky to the Waikato? Or is mother nature planning to ship that way? 0dandans (18 ) 12:31 pm, Thu 3 Mar
give it 60 million years he will be rolling down the main st of the MIGHTY 'TRON 2:45 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Love is in the air for Rocky I can hear him humming "She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes!" Good luck to both of you. kay108 (32 ) 12:32 pm, Thu 3 Mar
THANKS kay 2:45 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Hi although I am not an actual relationship expert it appears to me that the foundation of Rocky's relationship with the land has suffered some major upheaval. It is apparant from the photos that he has left the land 'deeply depressed'. Although Rocky is remaining strong and silent on the relationship, there can be no mending of the holes and gaps he has left behind until he either is made to move or goes on his own volition. I wish all the best for those affected by Rocky and his friends... reaver_2 (28 ) 12:34 pm, Thu 3 Mar
he left me a tad depressed as well....and then you lot came along :-) 2:46 pm, Thu 3 Mar
He looks to be a bit of a Rockabilly Rebel. Do you think he will be safe to have around in the future for whoever buys him? mcceltic (73 ) 12:48 pm, Thu 3 Mar
safe as houses, safe as houses :-) 2:46 pm, Thu 3 Mar
Phil, Does Rocky answer you when you talk to it? If not, then it may be a teenage male rock with rockets on it's mind or it could be a female rock in the middle of an unstable relationship. However, if Rocky did answer you, then it may be post-traumatic stress disorder and you may need help! mark0657 (4 ) 12:52 pm, Thu 3 Mar
