Краткое описание

Двадцать первый век характеризуется сменой типа культурно-исторического наследия. Человечество в считанные десятилетия совершило поворот от веками и тысячелетиями складывавшегося типа социокультурного наследия, основанного на передаче свода прошлых образцов, системы знаний и правил, к новому типу социокультурного наследия, в рамках которого главным стало не столько усвоение прежних рецептов, сколько подготовка к овладению методами и содержанием познания и практики, творческого осмысления и преобразования действительности.

4. Acquaintance with the countries chosen (presentations) (10 мин)

Teacher: Now you will see the presentations about the countries chosen. Be attentive as after the slide show is over you are supposed to answer some questions.

5. Speaking about the countries (10 мин.)

Teacher: Now in groups of three choose one of the countries and speak about its capital, major cities, highest mountains, longest rivers and largest lakes. [1] Use the information in the presentations and in Appendix 1, page 189. Present the description of the country you have chosen.

6. Listening comprehension (the flags of the countries) (10 мин)

Teacher: Listen to the text for the information on the flags of Russia, the UK and the USA. After listening be ready to talk about the flag of the country you have chosen. Use the following questions as a guide.

  • What is the flag called? Why?
  • What are the colours of the flag? What do they stand for?
  • What changes has the flag gone through over the years?
  • What proper names have you seen in the columns?
  • How do the proper names, design and colours reflect the history of the country? [1]

Teacher: Thank you very much for your work. Today we’ve learned what the expression a global village means and spoken about its three “parts”: Russia, the UK and the USA. I hope the tasks helped you to broaden your outlook, develop your speaking and listening skills and improve your ability in using multimedia technologies. I hope you’ll continue your acquaintance with the “parts” of our global village to get a better understanding of the people we share our planet with. And your home task is to prepare a presentation of your own about any country of our global village. The lesson is over now.
