Task 1

Choose the correct form of  the verb:

Task 2

Choose the correct variant of the sentence in passive.

1. Fred asked Simon. Simon was asked by Fred.

2. These young people have already left school. School have already been left by these young people

3.  Harry will meet you at the laboratory. You would be met by Harry at the laboratory.

4. Students respect this professor's opinion. This professor,s  opinion is respected by students.

5. They are writing a new computer program.  A new computer program is being written by them.

 

Task 3

Use the verbs in passive.

1.  Tolstoy's works were translated  into many languages. (to translate)

Task 4

Translate the following extracts from the texts using your dictionary. You have 30 minutes for this task.

Architecture is the art and the technique of building, employed to fulfill practical and expressive requirements of civilized people. Almost every settled society that possesses the techniques for building produces architecture. It is necessary in all cultures.

The characteristics that distinguish a work of architecture from the other man-made structures are the suitability of the work to use by human beings in general and the adaptability of it to particular human activities, then the stability and permanence of the works construction and, of course, the communication of experience and ideas through its form.

 

Архитектура - это искусство и технология строительства, используемые для выполнения практических и выразительных требований цивилизованного народа. Почти каждое общество урегулировано, обладает методами  для производит архитектуры. Это необходимо во всех культурах.

Характеристики, которые отличают работу архитектуры искусственные сооружения, пригодны для использования людьми в целом и адаптации его к конкретной деятельности человека, а затем стабильность и постоянство в работе, в строительстве и, конечно же, опыт и идеи его форм.
