How to study economics in a creative way?

As a pupil I wanted to become a banker, this profession seemed to me very interesting and what is more important - really promising. I had just childish expectations about these people, who count other people’s money and then are paid a big credit for their work. But the time was passing and I had to decide about my future education: there was a great choice of specialties connected with economics - business administering, banking, accounting, marketing, simply economics. This variety proves that economy today gains ever-growing significance and a number of subjects based on economics are steadily increasing. So, today it is not relevant to study only economic system, which includes microeconomics, macroeconomics and international economics, it’s better to be a universal professional with knowledge of management, finance, tourism. What is more, I decided that banking is a really risk bearing sphere, I would say – not for women. Finally, I settled upon our Faculty and Management in international tourism, where I have so many courses, that in the future I will be able to work anywhere I like.

The core of our education is economics. However there is a surplus of economists of different kinds and to stand out of the pack you should be a good economist. It doesn’t mean that unending overlearning of economic postulates, formulas leads you to success. In this case you should have mathematical ply of the mind and love figures to apply them practically. If not, and frankly speaking, I can reckon me among the second ones, the main idea to transform rigorous systems into understandable:

1. It’s still important to know the fundamentals of economics, but not to overload your mind with them
2. Theory is good, but not as good as practice: instead of reading endless books with outdated information, it is better to look at situations that took place all over the world to analyze them. Analysis, analysis and once again – analysis, this is what play into the hands in the future: applying knowledge to everyday situations from buying bread and milk and comparing prices in different shops up to finding out the main reasons for world crisis when watching TV, that is what of great moment now.

 The main aim of education – to shape critical thinking, which is the key to each sphere of mental working career.

3. Discussions with classmates, meetings with colleges, seminars and trainings are really interesting and useful forms of education. Such a type of communication broadens the mind, improves professional skills, personal qualities.
4. Finally, there are a lot of sources in the Web, books and magazines, created by talented people to ease the task of economists and written in simple phrase. So, you can choose between academic and creative textbooks today.

Now I know for sure that studying may be a really interesting activity.
