Краткое описание

I decided to choose this theme because I really like it. I like the simplicity but at the same time it’s power. Also talking about simplicity – it’s not that simple to represent 100% of your thoughts and emotions through this art movement and every artist that have done work in this style should have been very clear where and what he/she wants to show his audience.
That’s another reason why I chose this theme. It’s very effective and eye-catching. This art stands out and makes you think - it makes a lot of sense. I think it represents people’s view on politics and society.

DESIGNER’S STATEMENT

I decided to choose this theme because I really like it. I like the simplicity but at the same time it’s power. Also talking about simplicity – it’s  not that simple to represent 100% of your thoughts and emotions through this art movement and every artist that have done work in this style should have been very clear where and what he/she wants to show his audience.

That’s another reason why I chose this theme. It’s very effective and eye-catching. This art stands out and makes you think - it makes a lot of sense. I think it represents people’s view on politics and society.

I think this art movement was very important at that time for everyone.

Also because I’m Russian I decided to be patriotic and prove myself that I relate to this more than anyone else and that I can do a good job.

This project and this theme was a really good exercise for me and I was really happy to do it.

I think this art movement was one of the most interesting and powerful among others.

HISTORY OF THEME

Art Movement called Russian Constructivism was at its most popular point in history during 1913-1940.This movement was created and developed  by Russian avant-garde but rapidly spread to the rest of the world. Constructivism was committed to transform something usual to something unusual-abstract by being more geometrical, untried before and practically never emotional. Bold and straight forward art work was far more appropriate for this movement than personal and characteristic art work. Also this art movement was extremely minimal and every single piece was striped down to simple and basic elements. New media was often used in developing new artwork, which helped to create a style of art that was orderly. An art of order was wanted at the time because it was just after World War I that the movement arose, which suggested a need for understanding, unity and peace. The most famous constructivist artists were Vladimir Tatlin, Kasimir Malevich, Alexandra Exter, Robert Adams, and El Lissitzky.

WHY YOUR TREATMENT

To achieve results that I wanted I have used different materials and techniques.

First I sketched out all ideas that I had in my head my I was pretty sure what I wanted my stamps to look like.

After I had my ideas on paper I coloured in some of them to see what they would look like.

I wanted my stamps to look really out-standing and graphical so I decided to used bold letters on each stamp and four stamps would make the whole world up.

After I did it I was disappointed to see the results because it didn’t look anything like what I had in my mind.I gave it some thought and had a brilliant idea. I decided to use year when Soviet Union was formed - seemed perfectly suitable - 4 digits - 4 stamps plus graphical and bold.

So I sketched my ideas out and painted using gouache paint.

I was very happy with final idea after it was done.

After I scanned all 4 designs in and placed in  my booklet that I designed before.

TARGET AUDIENCE

I think these stamps will be very popular among people who are interested in history and politics especially of 19/20 century . This art movement played a huge part in a lot of people lives during the period when Soviet Union existed.

This movement is extremely straightforward and important  that’s why I think everyone would be interested although not in the same way.

I think more older people would be interested in this stamps because it would mean a lot to them.

Nevertheless people from 17-25 age group should find these stamps very eye-catching  and colourful specially if person is artistic and likes exploring new things. They also would be more popular among Russian people then anyone else because  as I already said this art movement was very important at a time in Russia and it would bring a lot of memories.

If this stamps would be for sale I think it  would be quite successful and it would nterest a lot of people.
